Q. I have a 2 year old and a 6 year old, how high can I safely have their play deck? A. British Safety standards recommend that play decks for pre school children should be no higher than 3ft and no higher than 5ft for school age children.
Q. Do you provide safety play surfaces and what varieties are there? A. Yes. We can provide a range of 'Play Barks' which are a safe and cost effective surface material at around £10 - £15 per Square metre, at a depth of 8cm. We can also supply 'Rubber crumb' which is a setting rubber surface, particularly good for areas where foxes may mess in loose surfaces. This costs around £100 per square metre.
Q. I've just had my garden landscaped and I don't want a big red plastic slide in the middle of it!...what natural products and colours do you use? A. At Mighty Oak we only use natural woods and rope to create our play structures. If you wanted a bright orange slide we could provide one for you! But we tend to favour the natural tones of brown and green to blend in with your garden.
Q. How long will a Mighty Oak Treehouses play structure last? A. All our wood is pressure treated soft wood from sustainable sources, and is guaranteed by the suppliers against rot and decay for 15 years.
Q. What type of wood do you use? A. All wood is pressure treated soft wood from sustainable sources.
Q. Can I add bits on to the tree house as my children get older? A. Yes. At Mighty Oak Treehouses we use versatile fixings to allow additional or different play equipment to be fitted at a later date. We also design the structure with future additions in mind, to accommodate different interests as your children grow older.
Q. We have a really sloping garden, can you still build a play structure for us, or do we need to excavate the garden? A. Yes, we can still build for you, and No you don't need to excavate! All of our garden structures are supported on machined round supports so we can adjust each support to create our own level. See gallery section picture number 5 and 6, Liss and St Marys Cray projects, one was on a hill side the other in an extremely sloping garden , it fell away nearly 3m from ground level at the back, to the front edge.
Q. Do we need planning permission?...we live in a conservation area? A. No, but it is always wise to check with local planning regulations prior to a build, especially in conservation areas. Buildings lower than 4m do not usually require planning permission, as long as the structure is more than 1m from a boundary and not in the front garden.
